Enjoy the jungle!

It is exciting to go to adventurous places as I am an adventurous girl. The things that I like about traveling is to feel free and far from home. Does anyone ever told you to take the chances while you have it? that is what WE suppose to do. 30 years from now, when we look back at time we would not regret with our life. That is how I am living my life now. My favorite place is the jungle but of course you would want to go to a place with facilities and transportation. Some of the places that I recommend are Danum Valley, Maliau Basin, and Tabin. These are the places that have a good rating from my friends. The place I had been is Danum Valley and now is looking for opportunity to go to Tabin and Maliau Basin. Tabin is also well-known for its facilities while Maliau Basin is more adventurous than Danum Valley because it is situated farther than Danum Valley. For now, I will write my verdict about Danum Valley.

The first time I went to Danum Valley is for my research on environmental issue. I find that I play a lot more than doing my research. Its not because I'm lazy but I was invited to the jungle parties which they arrange it once in a while. Late night barbecue and dancing in the middle of the jungle (the house is in the jungle). My fieldwork only takes about 2 hours a day so the rest of the time is for me to enjoy the nature.

There are 2 favorite waterfall in Danum: Tembaling waterfall and Purut waterfall. I had been to both waterfall. Tembaling is much closer to the Danum centre which is about 1.5 km from the centre while Purut is about 3.5 km from the Danum centre. The journey is not as easy as I had imagine but it was worthed especially if you go with a group of friends. Dont worry about the leeches, you can wear a leach socks like mine ( first picture).

The greatest feeling is when we reach the waterfalls. The water is cold and we were shivering while playing with the water. It is far in the jungle so all we felt was the adventure we were having... full of serenity, peace and it is just different from the other places I had been. It must have been the friends effect too because we were in a group. The journey to Purut waterfall (second picture) takes about 2 hours. It is quite challenging but bearable.

The third picture is Tembaling waterfall. Tembaling waterfall is the nearest to the centre and the trail is easier than the Purut waterfall. Most tourist prefer to go to Tembaling waterfall and I suggest it to someone who wants short walk in the jungle.

Waterfall is not enough to seduce you to Danum right? there are other things you can do in Danum. There are old coffins to visit, tree tower to see the jungle from the tall tree level, hiking, night drive or you can just mix and mingle!

The last picture is the picture of Danum centre from far. This is the Sungai Segamaha river which my friends and I enjoy to swim in the evening but if you want to swim at the river, it is safer that you have a staff or two to accompany you. You can also float with the current using life jacket. The Danum Staff are friendly and helpful so do not be shy to ask for help. I rate 4 star out of 5 for my last visit in Danum.

E-waste???

We know that we live in technological world with a lot of development. Entrepreneurs are pressured to make a distinct identity of their product in order to compete in the market. One of the fast developing technology is Mobile phone. Everyone has at least a mobile phone in developed and developing countries. There are a few factors that can contribute to E-waste: Fashion, Development rate of new technology, Need, Want, and affordability.

First suggestion to reduce E-waste is to buy second hand product. For an example, second hand car, mobile phone, PC and etc. Not many people will be happy to buy second hand goods. There are also some issues to consider such as the condition of the goods and the price that almost the same with the first hand good. Most of the second hand goods are in well condition because the good will be checked by the seller before they sell it, but buyers should have common sense of the goods' condition before buying it.

Second suggestion is to buy first hand product and use it as long as you can. for an example, a buyer can buy a good quality of mobile phone and use it until it cannot be use anymore. this is including fixing your goods if it is broken and re-use it again.
